Distractions revisits a performative format that Danny Neyman first established in his 2016 performance “Helsinki,” developing it into a different work with new texts, other structural logics, and in the Hebrew language. Neyman sits at a desk filled with notes with various types of text — personal diary entries, documentary writing, transcripts of conversations, book quotes, excerpts from social media, sex chats and more — and reads at random a sequence of text coming in from all directions. It is a monologue of intimacy and discontinuity; an attempted meditation on distraction, an associative cloud, and a semi-accidental portrait that oscillates between the personal and the impersonal, echoing and contemplating a contemporary sense of disorientation.

Danny Neyman is a performance artist, a dancer and a writer whose performances experiment with the relations between non-fiction writing, theater and music, while drawing creatively from the field of conceptual dance and performance.
Neyman has a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and The Humanities from the Adi Lautman Program in Tel Aviv University, and a post-master’s in Performance Studies from A.Pass in Brussels, Belgium. He has worked as a dancer and creating performer with different choreographers, among them Yasmeen Godder, Arkadi Zaides and Mette Ingvartsen. His performance works include: “Helsinki”, “Walk In The Park”, and “Birthday” (in collaboration with Hila Gluskinos). He is currently working on a recording of “Birthday” as an album together with Gluskinos, and on a debut book of narrative non-fiction.
